Overview
In addition to HostBuddy automatically detecting and categorizing action items from guest conversations, you also have the ability to create your own manual action items. This feature allows you to record important notes or follow-ups and ensure they’re visible to your team inside the Action Items portal or guest conversation center.
When to Use Manual Action Items
Manual action items are helpful when:
A guest raises an issue during a phone call or outside of the platform.
You want to document something for your team that HostBuddy wouldn’t automatically detect.
You need to create a task tied directly to a specific guest reservation.
How to Create a Manual Action Item
Follow these steps:
Go to Messaging
Open a Guest Conversation
Navigate to the Open Issue Tab
Add a New Action Item
Write Your Action Item
Type out the action item you’d like to record.
Example: “On a phone call, the guest complained that the unit was not as clean as they expected it to be.”
Save the Action Item
Click the blue Add Action Item button in the bottom-right corner of the text box.
Benefits
Creating manual action items ensures:
Nothing gets overlooked, even if it happens outside of HostBuddy’s automated detection.
Your team has full visibility into all outstanding tasks.
Each action item is directly tied to a guest reservation, keeping context clear.
The new action item will be created and automatically linked to that guest reservation.
It will appear in your Action Items portal for your team to review and complete.
