HostBuddy Image Intelligence

Overview

HostBuddy AI can analyze and understand photos sent by guests. This feature allows HostBuddy to see visual details such as verifying damage, identifying photo IDs, reading screenshots, or recognizing property features. This feature also improves accuracy, automates routine follow-ups, and helps HostBuddy respond to guest issues faster and more precisely.

How It Works

When a guest uploads a photo, HostBuddy AI automatically analyzes it to understand what’s shown in the image. For example:

  • Identify key details (e.g., “scratched floor in hallway,” “photo ID showing guest name,” or “screenshot of a WiFi error”).

  • Respond based on the photo’s content and match it to your existing SOPs (e.g., damage reports, cleaning issues, guest verification).

  • Create Action Items automatically and notify the right person or team member.

  • Use photo analysis with AI Context Checking or AI Personalization to make Upsells and Smart Templates more accurate and polished.

Example Use Cases

1. Photo ID Verification

Guests can upload a photo of their ID for check-in. HostBuddy confirms the name matches the reservation for verification procedure before providing key code information based on SOP.

2. Damage Reporting

If a guest sends a photo of a cracked tile or broken lamp, HostBuddy detects the issue and creates a Damage Report Action Item for you to review.

3. Amenity Assistance

When a guest shares a screenshot of a Wi-Fi or TV error, HostBuddy recognizes it, checks your SOPs, and replies with the correct troubleshooting steps.

4. Lost Items

If a guest uploads a photo of a forgotten item, HostBuddy can tag it as Lost Item based on your instruction, creates an Action Item, and notifies the assigned team member for follow-up.

5. Property Access Instructions

Guests can upload access-related photos — for example, a picture of their current location if they’re lost, or of a lockbox or keypad that isn’t working. HostBuddy can analyze these images and use your stored access instructions to guide the guest accurately and automatically.

6. Safety or Incident Reports (Urgent Issues)

If a guest uploads a photo showing a safety concern, HostBuddy flags it as a Maintenance or Safety Issue based on your instruction, generates an Action Item, and notifies your team (via Slack or email). You can list these as Topics to Avoid so HostBuddy waits for you to step in.

7. Price or Refund Requests

If a guest sends a screenshot in relation to pricing or money matters - you may set this as a Topic to Avoid so HostBuddy won’t approve or discuss pricing but will notify you to handle it directly.
